Instagram is a very popular photo-sharing app that businesses have used to great effect. Many companies of all sizes and in all industries post photos of their products and almost immediately see increased interest and sales. But if you are primarily a professional service such as a lawyer, therapist, accountant, or marketing company, you might have passed over Instagram because it doesn’t seem like it would do you much good. However, there are a number of different ways how this social media site can be used by services.
Photograph Your Teamin Action
The first way you can use Instagram is to post photos of your team in action. Have a photo taken of you preparing legal documents, speaking with a judge, or smiling with a client whose case you just won. Some of these professional photos may need to be staged, while others can be taken as the opportunity arises. You can also photograph your staff in a more casual setting. Post a photo of your receptionist with his birthday cake or your accounting staff as they prepare to go to a fundraiser. These images are just as likely to get attention as other posts, and they help to show the human side of your company.
Instagram posts don’t have to be photos taken with your phone. They can also be images you’ve created on your computer or tablet. You may need to transfer these images to a mobile device to upload to Instagram since you cannot do so from a computer, but it can be worth the time that takes. You can post fliers advertising sales, informative signs, and anything else you think your Instagram followers may find interesting, informative, or, at times, funny.
Get Works-in-Progress Shots
If you’re a company that creates something such as a construction company, home renovator, or painter, take some photos of your team working on a project. Get pictures of your latest construction project as it’s being built and give your followers updates on how it’s coming along. You can do the same with a home renovation, or you can post a before and an after image to give customers an idea of what you can do for them. Even a photo of one of your accountants at work on the computer can be an interesting image if you get the right angle and give it a good description.
A business with products can always post new images of older products that look different both as a way of keeping their Instagram account active and of giving those older products a boost in sales, but as a service you don’t have that option. However, you can get really creative with Instagram and post things you find funny, interesting, or thought-provoking that don’t necessarily have to do with your business. You shouldn’t do this all the time, but if you haven’t posted something in a week or so, doing one of these posts is a good way of keeping your brand name out there and giving your followers a bit of a laugh.
