Comparison Between Android And Windows

Comparison Between Android And Windows

Mobile technology has raised its bar phenomenally. Long gone are the times when mobile was only used to make calls and send messages. Today, the usage has become much potent. In current world, mobiles are purchased considering numerous factors. One of the very important factors is the Operating System. You must be very familiar with these two terms: Android and Windows. Let’s begin by defining both these terms.

Android is open source operating system that is Linux based and free for the users. The OS can be found in major lately launched smartphones and tablets. Formerly it was launched in year 2005 by Android Inc, anon it was taken over by Google and thus it became a Google product.

Windows on the other hand is a Microsoft product. It was never much popular in smartphones but some of the lately launched models have given it a smart hike in the market. It is a closed source OS which means that it is the property of Microsoft only and whatever additions are done are to be added by the brand. Many remarkable changes have been made in the Windows OS in order to make it more competitive and acceptable in the market.

Now, let’s turn our interest towards some of the basic distinctions among Android and Windows OS. Here are some major points of division:

  1. Android operating system is programmed in Java, C, C++ where as Windows is programmed in C and C++.
  2. The supported platforms of android are ARM, MIPS, x86, I.MX. On the other hand, the supported platform for windows is x86 only.
  3. Windows is closed source software where as the other one is the open source that opens route for numerous new add-ons.
  4. The default user interface of Android is Graphical Multi-touch where as windows have Graphical Metro UI interface.
  5. The applications in android are created by various developers as it being open source software. Same is not the case with windows as the applications are only developed and added by Microsoft and its associate companies.
  6. Android house more than 70,000 applications whereas Windows have a limited course of applications in its bag.
  7. Both the operating systems support multiple languages.

Both the platforms have their own credibility in market. Android being an open source OS gives a chance to many individual developers to create their apps and showcase at the largest forum. Most of the apps are available for free which makes android the first choice of investors.

Windows on the other hand have some constraints in terms of allowing developers to exhibit their development talent. Many bugs have been fixed and new additions of features have been made in the OS. Maybe that is the only reason for windows to get huge acceptance in current years.

There are numerous phone models available in market that is compatible with either android or windows. You can pick any of it, given your likability. Buy your favorite android or windows mobile at Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm, Snapdeal, Ebay, Shopclues, or any other potential online portal and walk hand in hand with latest technology.
